Context
CSA Partners were invited along with three other architects to propose concepts for the creation of a world-class Security Operations Control Center for the Bharat Diamond Bourse.
Concept
We provided numerous concepts that focused around the notion of the panopticon. The clients selected our design, and we moved forward with an idea of a faceted glass ceiling working off the motif of a diamond. The spatial volume provided by the clients was extremely tight, and our job was further complicated by extensive needs of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing), and data storage requirements of this center. We worked out sight lines both in the horizontal and vertical plane in a truly compact space, ensuring that our angles were equal to or better than auditorium sight lines. We integrated the furniture to become part of the space with detailed 3D modeling and quasi fabrication drawings as part of our design package. Our design ensured that individual monitors were protected from glare and occupants’ privacy was maintained. The ceiling was designed to be illuminated with an LED mesh integrated 6″ above the plane of the glass.
