Competitions
CSA Partners has built its reputation, in part, through architecture design competitions, open calls that invite firms from around the world to compete on ideas, not just credentials. As an architecture firm for design competitions, we see competitions as an opportunity to push past convention: to test bold concepts against a jury’s scrutiny, and to prove that thoughtful design can win on merit alone, regardless of firm size or track record.
We treat every competition brief as a genuine design problem. Whether the program calls for a civic landmark, a cultural institution, or a corporate headquarters, our competition entries are developed with the same rigor, research, and craft we bring to any commissioned project.
Competitions also let us explore ideas we might not otherwise get the chance to pursue, such as unconventional sites, experimental programs, or design questions that don’t yet have an obvious client attached. That freedom has shaped our design language in ways that carry forward into our commissioned work, and it’s part of why our portfolio spans such a wide range of building types and geographies, from the United States to India.
Below, you’ll find a selection of the competitions we’ve entered and won, from designing the National Tax Headquarters for the Govt of India, Bharat Diamond Bourse Phase 2 to an auditorium for the State Bank of India in Mumbai. Each project represents a moment where an idea, rigorously developed, was strong enough to stand on its own. As an architecture firm for design competitions, we continue to seek out these opportunities, both to sharpen our own practice and to contribute meaningfully to the broader conversation about what architecture can be.
