Context
Whitney M. Young School is one of the leading K-12 schools in Chicago and Illinois. CSA Partners Ltd. was requested to design a complete facade replacement of Building A, C, and connectors, along with a roof replacement for Building C and the connectors.
Concept
Building Envelope Renewal | Chicago, Illinois
At one of Chicago’s top-ranked selective enrollment schools, aging windows and roofing had begun to impact comfort and performance across the Whitney M. Young Magnet High School campus. The district turned to CSA Partners to reimagine the building envelope and bring new life to the iconic campus.
The project replaced façades and glazing on the main and arts buildings, upgraded bridge connectors and installed new roofing on the arts building and bridge connectors. The design introduced durable, bird-safe glazing materials that improve insulation and natural light while reducing maintenance.
Careful phasing kept the school open throughout construction. The revitalized buildings now provide a bright, efficient and welcoming environment that supports students and staff year-round.
