      Context

PBA was asked to design 22 bungalows and 36 row houses for this site in Phase 1. Additional bungalows and row houses would be added in Phase 2. The site is extremely steep, and proactive usage of the hill was a given.

      Concept

This is a relatively traditional resort complex in India, completed in the fashion of the critical-regionalist architectural movement, with traditional colors and roof lines creating the comfortable and relaxing—yet ultimately familiar—environment one demands of their vacation spot. The vacation facilities themselves have been positioned around a central resort area anchored by a swimming pool, with the bungalows and row houses placed in a repetitive fashion that encloses and regularizes the grounds of the complex.
