Context
The City of Chicago and Alderman Reboyra’s office have envisaged this affordable housing project in concert with Metropolitan Housing Development Corporation have undertaken this project on a prime location of Diversey Avenue.
Concept
The project envisages this as a welcoming and spacious facility designed for all, but encouraging occupation by senior citizens. The project provides 98 units with a mix of one bedroom, convertible and studio units. Each room of each unit is installed with large 3-bay windows that are more than 6ft in height and over 7.5ft in width, thus providing generous amounts of light into the interiors. Given the building’s length we broke down the facade into a series of bays approximately with a ratio of 24ft is 11ft 8 inches. The play of a series of 4 bays then with an inset diminished the linearity of a 300ft long facade.
